Emotional Freedom Techniques
A Simple, Effective, Fast and Safe solution to stress, anxiety and trauma
Tapping into your well-beingEnergy Psychology Where the body's ancient maps meet the mind's deepest patterns.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT ) sometimes called “Tapping” or “Emotional Acupuncture”, is and Energy Psychology modality, and is a natural combination of psychotherapy and acupressure, and is showing outstanding results for PTSD, chronic pain, weight issues and stress and anxiety reduction. This is Janes core modality. It is a natural technique of tapping on several points on the upper body and face, combined with focusing the mind on a specific emotional issue or problem. It can be a practitioner led modality, or a simple self-help technique, which Jane teaches so you can gain the relief you need instantly in the moment. There are things that talking cannot reach.
Not because the mind isn't willing — but because the body holds what the mind has not yet been able to process. Trauma doesn't live in the story we tell about it. It lives in the nervous system, in the tissues, in the electrochemical patterns that fire the same way they did the first time something became too much to bear. This is not a flaw in your design. It is the body doing precisely what it was built to do — protect you, loyally, even long after the original threat has passed. Energy Psychology works with the body where the body actually holds its history. Not around it. Not despite it. With it. Energy Psychology is not a single technique. It is a rich and evolving collection of evidence-informed approaches that share a common understanding: that our emotional and psychological experiences are not merely cognitive events. They are electrochemical, somatic, and energetic ones. They live in the body's meridian system — the same network of energetic pathways that has been mapped, used, and trusted by traditional Chinese medicine for more than five thousand years — and in the broader biofield that surrounds and permeates every living system.
Jane's Energy Psychology practice draws on several distinct and complementary modalities, woven together in response to what each individual brings. Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) Developed from the ancient foundations of acupressure and refined through decades of clinical research, EFT combines the gentle tapping of specific meridian points with focused awareness on the pattern being addressed. The result is a precise dissolving of the electrochemical charge that keeps painful memories, fears, and limiting beliefs activated in the nervous system. Jane is a certified Evidence-Based EFT Practitioner, trained directly by Professor Peta Stapleton of Bond University — the world's leading researcher in this field. The result is not forgetting. It is freedom. The memory remains. The charge does not. Matrix Reimprinting takes EFT deeper — into the formative moments where the most persistent patterns were first established. Drawing on the understanding that our earliest experiences create energetic imprints held in the body's field, this approach allows those moments to be gently revisited, met with new resources, and fundamentally transformed at the level where they were encoded. It works not only with personal memories but with the inherited patterns of ancestral and lineage experience — making it a particularly powerful complement to Jane's ancestral work. Together, these modalities form a coherent and deeply responsive body of practice — one that can meet a person at the surface of what they're carrying, or follow the thread all the way to the root. THE SCIENCE BENEATH THE PRACTICE
Energy Psychology sits at a compelling intersection of ancient wisdom and contemporary research. The Meridian System The body's meridian network — long dismissed by Western medicine as metaphor — has now been identified in anatomical studies as a system of connective tissue channels carrying measurable bioelectric signals. Stimulating specific meridian points has been shown to regulate the amygdala's stress response, reduce cortisol levels, and shift brainwave activity toward calmer, more integrated states. The body's energy map, it turns out, is not a metaphor at all. It is anatomy. Polyvagal Theory and the Nervous System The work of Dr. Stephen Porges — whose Polyvagal Theory has transformed the trauma field — describes the autonomic nervous system as a hierarchical, state-based system that responds not only to thoughts but to signals of safety and danger in the body itself. Energy Psychology techniques work directly with this system, offering the nervous system precisely the kinds of somatic signals that tell it, at the level of the body, that it is safe to release what it has been holding. Epigenetics and Belief Biology The pioneering work of Dr. Bruce Lipton in the field of epigenetics demonstrates that our beliefs — held in the body as cellular-level instructions — directly influence gene expression and biological function. Limiting beliefs are not merely psychological inconveniences. They are biological programs running beneath conscious awareness, shaping health, behaviour, and possibility. Energy Psychology works at the level where those programs are written. Research and Evidence Energy Psychology techniques have been the subject of more than 200 published clinical trials — and 99 percent demonstrate effectiveness for at least one outcome variable. Much of this evidence has been built by Australian clinical and health psychologist Professor Peta Stapleton of Bond University, a world authority in the field and recipient of the Australian Psychological Society's Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Science Award in 2024. Prof Stapleton's research has demonstrated that Energy Psychology techniques produce measurable biological effects — including changes in gene expression, brain synchrony, hormonal synthesis, and a wide range of stress biomarkers. Her world-first brain scan studies revealed that after just four weeks of tapping, the neural pathways associated with emotional reactivity — including the brain's craving and fear responses — showed significant, measurable change. The brain, it turns out, does not merely feel differently. It reorganizes structurally. Her findings confirm that the approach is effective for anxiety, depression, phobias, PTSD, chronic pain, insomnia, and autoimmune conditions — with comparatively few sessions required, results that hold over time, and effectiveness whether delivered in person or virtually. This is not fringe science. It is peer-reviewed, published, and growing. MORE ON THE RESEARCH THE WORK ITSELF
Energy Psychology sessions with Jane are not scripted or formulaic. They are responsive — shaped by what you bring, what the body reveals, and where the intelligence of the process leads. We may work with a specific memory, a recurring emotional pattern, a belief that has quietly governed your choices for longer than you can remember, or a physical symptom that has resisted explanation. We follow what is alive, with gentleness and with precision. You will be fully present and fully in control throughout. You will not be asked to relive, re-enact, or re-explain. The approach does not require you to go back into the experience in order to move through it. It requires only your willingness to be present with what is here, now — and to allow the body's own intelligence to do what it has always been capable of doing. Sessions may include light breathwork, somatic awareness practices, and specific meridian-based techniques. What remains consistent is the quality of presence brought to the work — and the understanding that you are not a problem to be solved, but an intelligence to be supported. WHAT PEOPLE BRING

A NOTE ON DEPTH
Energy Psychology, in experienced hands, is not a surface-level technique. It is possible — and in Jane's practice, it is the intention — to use these approaches to work with the earliest formative layers of experience: the moments in childhood, in the womb, in the lineage itself, where the most fundamental patterns were established. This is precise, careful, deeply respectful work. It is not rushed, and it is not done alone. The understanding that shapes this practice is that our patterns do not begin with us. We are the living expression of very long ancestral lines — carrying not only our own experiences but the unresolved emotional material of those who came before us. Energy Psychology, at its most profound, can work at this level too — meeting what has been held across generations with the same gentle precision it brings to the personal. YOUR PRACTITIONER
Jane Sleight-Leach is a certified Evidence-Based EFT Practitioner, trained directly by Professor Peta Stapleton of Bond University — the world's leading researcher in the field. She holds five levels of certification in Matrix Reimprinting and has been working with these modalities for well over a decade, bringing to every session not only her professional training but her own deep, personal experience of the territory. She is a currently registered mental health support worker, holds a Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, and is also an Accredited Acoustic Restoration Therapy Practitioner — meaning Energy Psychology sessions can, where appropriate, be integrated with ART for a profoundly comprehensive somatic experience.
